Where the dogs of society howl, You can't plant me in your penthouse, I'm going back to my plough.

I have to say that this is one of my favorite songs from Elton John.  When Lindsay asked the design team to create a card using a song as our inspiration, I really didn't know what I was going to do.  So I started going through the images and when I saw this one from Funky Forest, I couldn't stop singing that song.  I then googled it and saw the album cover and I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

So using the colors from this picture:

 and made this acetate card:

The card was actually pretty simple.  The acetate was a piece of printed 12x12 that I got in a kit and really had no idea what I was going to use it for.  I added the image on the back of the cover so it was showing through the front and then added a couple rub-ons.

Lindsay's Stamp Stuff

For this week, Lindsay wanted us to make anything but a card.  I've had this die from Sizzix for quite a while now and never used it so I decided to pull it out and use it.  The rattle images and the welcome baby banner are from the Babies and Bows set which can be found here.   Also the bow is made using the tutorial by Cheryl Walker, her bows are just awesome!!  The tutorial can be found here.

Are you ready for Easter?

I think I am :)  I finally got Abby's Easter basket stuff over the weekend and now it just needs to be assembled.  This week Lindsay asked the Design Team to create an Easter Project.  I had learned how to make pixie stix holders a couple weeks ago and wanted to make some more.

I found some "spring-y" paper in my stash and used the little duck from the Cute Easter set and this is what I cam up.  Of course, I couldn't find any pixie stix so I used some of Abby's candy.  They came out pretty darn cute :)

 Happy Monday!

This week Lindsay challenged the team to make something with envelopes.  At first I really didn't know what I was going to do but then came up with this idea.  I probably should've attached each of them together as well as to the front and back of the chipboard but I'll definitely remember that for next time.

This cute little "case" can hold gift cards, little 3x3 cards w/envelopes, etc.  The image I used for this one was from Bird Branches and can be found here.

Miss you card

Well it's Monday and time for another post for Lindsay's Stamp stuff.  This week Lindsay's theme was "stitches", so I knew I had to use Doodle Flowers found here.  Since I added so many different colors in the flower I wanted to go simple on the card so I didn't add any DP to it instead went with just cardstock.  I added faux stitching around the white cardstock to add just a little something :)  The flower is layered, with the middle being higher than the sides (3 layers total).

Also this week, the DT is saying good bye to Nettie and a very happy hello to our new DT member Jessica Hammond.  So when you're hopping around the DT"s blogs today make sure to give Jess a warm welcome :)

Hello Birdie!!!

I can finally say that I am happy that last week is over! That is definitely the hardest time of the year for me and now life can get back to normal :)

For those that don't know, last week marked the two year anniversary of my mom's death and was also her birthday. She died unexpectedly two days after her 65th birthday.

With that I have great news to share with you but I can't until Thursday, so hold on tight...I know I'm still jumping! LOL

Anyway for this week, Lindsay wanted us to create something with a Nature/Outdoor theme and I knew right off that I wanted to use this little bird scene from the Pretty Primitive set found here. The papers are from my stash and thought it looked pretty cool with the back framing everything...what do ya think?

Lindsay's Stamp Stuff

Here is my card for this week's post. As I'm typing this I remembered that Lindsay asked the design team to use buttons/bows for the theme this week and well I guess I didn't do that :) (I sort of got the bow thing going on LOL). Oh well, I used the easter basket from the Cute Easter set that is offered in the store.

Ready for spring yet??

I know I am. I was excited when Lindsay told us to create a spring themed project this week. I am so sick of the cold and ready for some warm weather :) When I sat down to create my project I couldn't decided between two images from the Pretty Primitive set, so I created two cards this week.

Treat Bag

This week, Lindsay wanted us to create something that will hold a treat/candy with Valentine's Day being Saturday. This is definitely not my specialty and I am so not happy with the way it turned out. I wasn't going to post it but figured that as "artists", we are not always satisfied with our projects but there is always someone out there who might love it.

You can't really see it but the flap is punched with a lace heart border).(

Hello Chickadee

Chickadee's have to be my favorite bird out there. I just think they are the cutest little things around :) So when I saw this image from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff, I had to have it. The image is called Chickadee and can be found here. Now this isn't something I would typically gravitate towards as I always seem to not know what to do with it but I think the card came out pretty good. I used this week's sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches as well for this card.

A little fantasy

can go a long way. Once I saw this stamp set from Lindsay, I knew I had to use it. The image is called Carousel and can be found here. I also used this week's sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches for the layout. I didn't want to over-shadow the image so I went very simple on the whole card. I really liked how it turned out and made another card somewhat similar (see my next post).

Lindsay's Stamp Stuff

I mentioned not too long ago that I made the Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Design Team! Well, TODAY IS THE DAY! It's my first post at one of their DT'ers! This week's project was to use something recycled (clothing, ribbon, buttons, etc.) and to use a digi stamp/item of some kind. Lindsay is having a challenge on her blog to create a project using a recycled item and the winner will get a free stamp. Hurry now you only have until the the 7th!

I've been really wanting to try to make an easel card so i decided to do that for my first project. I used the bingo Card from Love Grows and my recycled item was the ribbon and some scraps I had lying around. Lindsay's Stamp Stuff is also featured on MyGrafico and can be found HERE.



My second project was something quick and easy. I created a little card holder with three matching cards. Not sure what I'll use this for but it was definitely fun to make and gave me a great idea for Valentine's day (you'll have to wait and see for that project). Once again the ribbon and scraps were my recycled items.
